Good start to the New Year
« on: January 04, 2019, 02:01:18 PM »
We had good surf on 12/30/18 and again on 1/1/19. And it's been nice here in New Jerz. Not to cold yet.
Hope everyone's New Year was Zone-terrific.
Check out the action. The Rattler is a wave about 7 miles from me. Hadn't surfed it in over three yrs. Sweet mysto spot.
The barrelin' day on 1/1 is a little closer and used to be surfed ALOT in the 70s and 80s. But beach fill operations over the yrs has drastically changed it. Especially since the jetties were all buried. That town had THE sweetest jetties. Just me and my brother that day.

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Another fun one for sure! Just to add to your description, both days had wind gusts in the 20-30mph range and temps in the 50's! Lot of crowded breaks but like you I had one pretty much to myself both day.  Even though it was windy as heck, I really felt like the stand-ups had an edge being able to get in much sooner!

Oh, looks like we might get another warm one tomorrow!

looks like fun, surfercook. Thank you for sharing. subscribed to your channel.

p.s. was thinking to ask "so you just leave soloshot standing on the beach and recording you while you are surfing?", then noticed someone else's camera casually recording alone on the beach... Not sure if I could leave my camera standing like this where I surf...

thanx...always nice to get ''Sus-scribers"!  :P

leaving a SS on the beach is always a gamble. Here where I live they are pretty safe. I've left em on the beach in CA, RI, NY, Costa Rica, Canada, and Nicaragua. It depends on the crowd/vibe and ultimately if you're worried about theft you can lock em down easily enough. I just use a laptop cable lock but Clay from here on the forum has the Fort Knox of SS's!
