Kai foiling the Hawaiian Island Chanin (most of it anyway)

I have to assume Red Bull is getting their money's worth. I compare this to fielding four car in F1. No matter what they pay him, it's a rounding error compared to that budget.

Do we know if on any of those crossing he stopped or did I flew all the way each time ? I think didn't stop even for M20, that is very very impressive !!!

Man, that’s an awesome year. The NaPali race is such a staggering background for an event.

Every year he steps up his status as GOAT waterman....from pumping a foilboard for 3 hours to schooling the big wave fraternity a few months later - incredible - great watch!

Amazing stuff, and he must make you weep with frustration if you one of his competitors. But his marketing people need to be a bit careful about turning him into a human meme. He’s only a fraction away from becoming a Chuck Norris-style joke. “Kai Lenny foiled over the polar ice cap wearing only a mankini” anyone?

I see he got a production credit for that film. Well, ok then Kai, we all know that you think that in order to pay your mortgage you have to sell yourself as a water-god, replete with a coterie of sycophantic minions, superhuman physical abilities, and portentous Game of Thrones-style music and editing. But please don’t become a Lance Burkhart cliche. Nor do you have to do the Gerry Lopez “mystical shaman of the seas” act either. That can come in a few years, when your powers are fading. It is possible to be a regular guy who does extraordinary things. And that is more the zeitgeist these days: Look at the popularity of Ed Sheeran.

The “mythical water-god come to earth” act seems hackneyed and almost quaint these days. Kai is so good at what he does that that he could find a more original (and humble) way to engage with his community, that would have longevity. At the moment he’s seemingly too complicit in his own myth-making. Wind it in a bit, Kai: Show some bloopers. Show us the ordinariness behind the extraordinary. Get a bit meta. Be real.

Foil is a prototype and probably not the same everytime.

The board is a KT (I think it is a 5'8).
