Soloshot competition?
« on: November 28, 2018, 02:56:27 PM »
Reading an article about the DJI Osmo and noticed it has some features that might make it a lower cost option.

That's a really cool new gimbal camera but it uses optical tracking and face recognition, like the DJI drones use.  This is not the same as the Soloshot which uses GPS/accelerometer tracking and has a 65x zoom.   The Osmo sounds great for shooting yourself doing stuff close to the camera but I doubt it will work for tracking in the surf, also no zoom.

I wonder if the optical tracking would work with a solo surfer....nobody else out at my local most of the time. No zoom is a drawback.

As long as you are in range and visible it should track you.  So, if you pull the trigger on this, no excessively long tube rides for you!
