November Surf
« on: December 05, 2018, 09:43:08 PM »
Some decent surf at my local from November...and a cool electric bike.

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Nice video. I've got to hand it to all of you who sup surf when the water is cold.

Of all the boards you ride, for some reason I always like to see you ride you Ripper.

Thanks of posting the video. As always, I enjoyed viewing it.

SC, you and I surf at about the same level of ability and have similar styles. It's kind of like watching myself except that I'm goofy.

NW, there is usually very little sensation of the water being cold when you are wearing the right amount of neoprene. Most of the time, I'm warmer when I'm out surfing than I am sitting at home watching TV.

Those waves weren't bad but windy beach break is not my favorite.   :)

Surfing in the cold is a unique and challenging experience. It pushes your abilities and limits to the fullest. Just make sure your rubber is thick and doesn't leak! The Ripper is a great board. Just wish I'd stop wrecking the darn thing!

LOL....I would really like to see a video of you surfing, Badge.

Funny you say that about being warm in a wetsuit. I'm usually warm while in the water but the walk back to house or car is usually brutal if there are wind chills.

Them my favorite kind of waves. Haven't seen them for a while.
Well I hope you find em soon. Remember, Seven days without waves makes one "weak''!  ;D

I hear that. A nice glassy/slightly overhead point break would be my first choice.

Here's a small day from November that was a bit more forgiving at my local.

I would love to see a video of me too! I have three friends with cameras and even drones who keep promising to get some footage but so far it hasn't happened.

Same here with the cold. No problem being on the water for four hours but then I freeze to death when loading up the car to go home. I envy those people who can put their wetsuit on outdoors at the beach in winter. I would not be able to recover from that. I put my suit on at home and take it off in the shower at home.

I'm lucky that my favorite point break is just 20 minutes from my house. To be within walking distance would be the ultimate. You ought to take some clothes to wear over your wetsuit for the walk home and leave them on the cart while you surf. An old down parka and some ski pants would work.

i freeze changing INTO my suit in subfreezing weather--get serious shivers while i put it on--then sit in suit, zipped, in car with heat blaring for a while before i go in

out? i am always warm given exertion--get a kick out of stripping down where people think i am nuts to be topless--i dont take too much time with that tho.

always need help taking suit off, pulling front zip down past one elbow--cant do it alone at this point--surfers? proners who'd stinkeyed me in the lineup? strangers dog walking? anyone. i always ask for help.
