Happy Halloween!
« on: October 31, 2018, 07:26:10 AM »
Scraped the ice off the windshield this am and hit my local before the sun came up.  Chilly (30 degrees) air but water still hovering around 60...only one out in pristine knee to occasional waist early.  Stunning morning as the sun came up and the ocean steam slowly rolled out to sea.....my suit was steaming like a linebackers bald head in Green Bay in December!

Nothin' like a soul cleansin' solo sesh! What suit is that? Looks similar to my 5.5/4 O'Neil Pyro Tech  hooded full.
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Thx Cookie....the suit is an O'Neil Heat 4/3.  I was wearing a thin patagonia hooded vest with it underneath.  Hood down most of the session...plenty warm!!  Water temp is still 3/2 range but with air temps in the 30-40's the 4/3 (for me) is my go too. 8) 8)

Funny, here in the Northeast we need a pretty strong quiver of rubber to keep at it yr round.
Here's my list-
Early summer-2mil all around short sleeve full
Mid to late summer into early fall- Board shorts
Early fall- 3/2 full
Late fall into early winter- 4/3, 3 mil booties, beanie cap, 2mil five finger gloves
Dead of winter into early spring- 5.5/4 mil hooded full, 5mil or 7 mil boots, 5 mil gloves

Start reversing the list around late March. rinse and repeat!  :P

Yesterday was the first day for my 2 mil gloves. Started out w/out em but quickly doubled back to grab em. Good thing I hauled em to the beach w/me. Quite chilly w/those gusty offshores.
