Creeks were ripping around the East Coast yesterday
« on: October 29, 2018, 01:40:41 PM »
My buddy Ryan got his new 8'10 Sunova "Creek" on Friday.

Cape Cod was not my cup of tea yesterday..... big, gnarly, windy, cold closeout tubes.
(pic #1, photo credit Zoner "Weed")

So Ryan and I left Cape Cod in search of something more manageable.
Found it  ;D

Ryan was laying it down hard and ripping the waves apart! (Pics 2-5)
He couldn't stop talking about how stoked he was with his new board!

I got home and saw a FB post from some friends in VA Beach.
Chip and Isa were killing it on their Creeks (pics 6-8)
Good day all around!

Sadly, because of refraction and cold wind, I left my 9'1 Creek in the car and took out the 9'5 Soul.

More like Fireball shots :D

Looks like it was a worth while drive.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

At least people are getting in some sup surfing action.

The weather, as I type this, for Surfside, Texas is blue bird skies, no clouds, onshore wind from the south at 8 mph, air temperature of 82 degrees F with a water temperature of 74 degrees F. And me with a bum left knee.  :(

Thanks for sharing the photos.

I am jealous, both of the Creek and the waves. Haven't had much luck with waves lately. Actually haven't had a great day since I tried out your Creek at the APP competition...  Hopefully this spring!

Whoa - That's a pretty gnarly shot of the cape Rick!  In my neck of the woods in NY it was pretty bumpy and disorganized with the W wind but there were some solid sets rolling through.  I was out with one other guy - last day I'm going to go without booties - couldn't feel my feet walking back.  Glad you scored some and can't believe you trunked it...

Great pics. I have been lurking here for a while now and just recently got registered. Would love to see some more of the Sunova boards in person. Seems like everyone that has them has good things to say. I'm in NC. Think I have only regularly seen one guy out with one where I go, but then again I don't out as often as I would like. He has a Speed and I have talked to him about it a few times. Hopefully as my skills ( and finances) improve I can pick one up at some point.

There was a 9'7 Creek a little further south in Jersey on Sunday too. Snuck out Monday but the wind was crazy and couldn't find a manageable spot but struggled through and caught a few. First time in gloves, boots and a squid lid. The Creek passed that test too!

Some quality Creek stoke there! I would love to demo one. Curious what the vol/dims are on an 8'0".
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Thanks for the offer! I'm in Wilmington. Been prone surfing for years but only a couple summers of SUP so lots of learning to do. I really enjoy it though and love how it increased my wave count. We usually get to Hatteras every fall.  Flo forced some priority changes this year so unlikely we will get up that way now, but you never know.

Hey Jim,

Glad you got it!!! By afternoon when I got home there wasn't much happening. I have to stop letting a thing like work get in the way of my surfing! Monday the pier was too blown out to even try it. I ended up on 8th in OC and that was way too much work.

PM if you are down and going out. Most of the stand ups are gone and I always enjoy the company. Looks like Saturday may be something but I'm out all winter!

Hi SurfnCJ.... welcome to the Zone!
There are a bunch of my friends that surf OBX on their Creeks as well.... if you see the green/blue boards, say hi and ask to have a look. They are great folks from VA Beach. Tell them I say Hi!

I'm going to try to head down that was sometime this fall.... I'll let you know!

Hi Cookieman
8'1 x 27 3/4 at 96 liters   - pretty small.
I always recommend buying a size bigger than what you think you want, because it surfs smaller than the numbers.
