Not every idea is a good idea
« on: October 14, 2018, 08:43:17 AM »
I was digging through the photo files on the old Ke Nalu website and found this: The Schnozz. An add-on nose that I made to slip onto the Naish 14' Glide. I did this about 2011. The old glides were like a 12' board with an extra two feet that stayed out of the water unless you were in just the right wave. This was my idea of a fix. No, it didn't work.

The maiden voyage was at Round the Rock. I paddled out during warmup, paddled back in and tossed the nose in the truck for later disposal. Did the race on my surfboard. Brutal. In the last half mile, I was leading the surfboard class when I got ab cramps so bad I couldn't stand up. Everyone passed me.

I remember Mickey Munoz made one of those and brought down to the BOP about 8 years ago. Fun stuff to mess around with. You can't look back though. Just keep working on the next idea. Will this next project be a waste of time? If you enjoy yourself when you do it, then it's never a waste of time. At least that's what I keep telling myself ;D
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

It needed to be much stronger and very securely mounted to work. I should have realized that.
