First surf session in North Carolina next week...but where?

Got my house pretty much set up and now I'm ready for my first road trip to surf somewhere in NC.  You who know the area, where should I surf?

I really like the Wrightsville area.
Lots of breaks and has always had something ridable when I have been there.
Most surfers seem to stick close to the piers, so I just go down the beach and find empty peaks.

Not sure if you still have to pay for parking, but it can add up if you change beaches during the day.
I got the "Pay by Phone" app to make it easier.

Stop by Carolina Paddle Company shop and ask for suggestions.... they have always been friendly and helpful.

I just checked the water quality in that area and they have lifted the warnings from Florence related run-off.

Aloha zoo! The wife and I were just there last week.The waves at nags head looked pretty fun to me. Fat on the outside and sandy barrels on the inside. Waves were good further south at Hatteras too. The ferry wasn’t operating at the time because of the aftermath of Florence so getting to Charlotte was a good drive. All fun though. Good luck.

From Charlotte - WB is closest, but.......OBX will definitely better, depends on how long you want to drive. Some friends were up in Nags Head this week and said it was perfect.

We've had a nice run of surf in SC - waist to chest basically all week, clean. This week looks windy (good for me - kiting) but the nice thing about both the Wilmington area and OBX is you can find a NE facing or south facing beach to compensate.
