things to think about when it comes to design
« on: October 05, 2018, 02:26:25 PM »
http://www.nowtro.com/paddle-surf/#psv

interesting thoughts and history  on shape and design for SUP paddleboards and wave riding.

"Designs run the gamut from absurdly-short 7’10”s all the way up to 11’0” big-wave rhino chasers.  Background checks mandatory before orders taken. If you are one of those nefarious SUP abusers who terrorize conventional surf breaks – no SoUP for you!"

The last time I talked to Sean Ordonez (which was much too long ago, he's one of my favorite human beans) he said he had refined all his shaping efforts down to one design, that he scales up or down. Watching him ride his boards at Ho'ikipa it seems that he could well be on to something.

That's kind of the gist of what Dave Parmenter seems to be saying.
