Monster Snapper SUP fishing
« on: September 23, 2018, 03:15:48 PM »
Sharing this great catch (mutton snapper) that I had a couple of weeks ago. I was out trolling a lure about a mile offshore here off Fort Lauderdale beach.
I like to grab a rod and a net when the ocean is flat and paddle for a couple miles.  This is my first substantial catch. as I have been catching alot of smaller fish.
For reference, my board is 29" wide and the fish weighed just over 5 lbs. after scaling and gutting.

Down in my neck of the woods, we have red snapper off the upper Texas coast. We don't catch them very often since it seems the red snapper prefer the "10 fathom depth" water depth (60'). The 60' water depth lies about 37 miles off from Galveston.

We make do trolling for spanish mackerel.
