Go-foil sizing in cm2?
« on: September 12, 2018, 07:42:02 AM »
How big are the Maliko 200 and 280 in cm2? 280 square inches is 1806cm2 but that doesn't add up to the 1800cm2 wings that I've seen. Is he using square feet in which case 2.8sq.ft would be 2600cm2 which sounds more plausible.

And are the quoted sizes correct in whatever denomination they may be?

Does anyone know?

Taken from a thread on Seabreeze. I think this is accurate, but have no way to confirm:

The Maliko 280 is a beast.  You could throw a small rock in a pond and foil all the way across.

Peter, from looking at the chart I’m not seeing any other foils that are even anywhere near 1800.

Which foils are you comparing them to?

Thanks - charts above are very helpful - I'm helping some local foil-makers numpty testing surf and downwind wings and as you all know wings are getting bigger and bigger and it seems Go-foil have the largest wing on the market at present. Our local guys have made 1800's and 2000's cm2 and were estimating the Go-foil 280 to be about 2500cm2 which then isn't too far off.

There aren't any 280's in the country so only ever seen pics and write-ups.

One of the local guys is busy with a 2600cm2 for big boy downwinding - apparently it has glide for days but getting up is still the biggest hurdle for us bigger guys.
