This is totally unfortunate.

I don't want to be callous but if its sharky I don't even like to put my feet in the water.

As my mentor Rich once said "If I am on my SUP and he hits me I am going to go flying.  As long as I don't come down in teeth I should be OK."

SUP and prosper my friends.

What a shame. Too young. RIP.

I've been a body/boogie boarder my whole life. Until SUP. Still have boards, fins, hand plane. I wouldn't do it on the Cape these days....too easily mistaken for primary prey. I only partly jokingly mentioned feeling safe so long as a boogie boarder was nearby in one of the previous shark threads.

on the scene video in this story:
http://www.capecodtimes.com/news/20180915/police-man-bitten-by-shark-at-wellfleet-beach-has-died

I left this beach 15 minutes before the bite, after a full morning session.
The beach and line-up were packed with friends and young local surf families.

Idyllic beach day gone bad.

Now the beach is closed until further notice.... while the authorities decide how to protect us in the off-season:

"Today is just keeping everyone out of water,'' Hurley said.
"There'll be a determination later about what the town wants to do with the beaches going forward.''

I don't like the sound of that  :(

Knee is fine jrjr.... that was a fun session yesterday, nice to surf with you again :)
I loved being able to hang off my board in the water and rest..... I don't do that at home!

Femoral artery - largest in the body after the Aorta.  Likely his heart pumped twice as fast to counter the loss in pressure, only to pump it into the ocean.  Sad.
