Author Topic: Suggestions on 2 SUP Travel Bag (Read 3343 times)

I'm taking my usual trip to Costa Rica in January, and I'm pondering taking two boards depending on conditions, my 8'8" JL SuperTech (better in steeper/bigger surf) and my 7'6" JL Super Frank Lean (fun in slower surf, and I just love having a smaller SUP if the waves allow).

Any suggestions on a travel bag? Right now, I have the Riviera 8'8" bag which fits my SuperTech well, but I'd be a bit worried to try and fit the Super Frank in with it, although I may go try it just to see how it would work. I've travelled with the SuperTech and a kite setup before with no issues.

I've fit two SUPs into an Epic SUP bag. They're designed big, or at least they were when I bought mine. I have an 11 foot bag which is kind of old.

Maybe give these guys an ask?

You need to be careful with roller bags. There is a lot of added weight to rollers. Hawaiian Airlines has a 50 lb limit and 2 board limit per bag. Check weight limits on whatever airline you are flying. I could not get an 8'5 and an 8'0 together in a roller bag with bubble wrap and some cardboard protection, with paddles, to be under 50lbs.
Vitamin Blue custom board bags made me a great 2 board travel bag, that would work. $275.

9'0" Rhino bag by Pro-Lite worked nicely for me w/an 8'0" sup and 6'6" quad fish. Though the description states it only accommodates one sup. It's a dedicated sup airline travel bag. Very handy exterior paddle pocket that accommodates a paddle in it's travel sock. Prob can keep it under 70lbs w/two sups if you keep extra packing to a minimum. I just put both boards in their day bags/socks and crossed fingers. They both made it to CR and back from NJ unscathed...luckily.
