Foilboard rental in Hawaii. Bringing my own foil
« on: August 23, 2018, 07:14:43 PM »
Hi,

Looking to see if I can rent a foil board, minus the foil, somewhere in HI in the next few months.  I know renting a board with the foil is not available because of liability issue as well as concern that a newbie is going to jump into the lineup with a foil and be a mad slasher.

Thanks

What island? If you're going to Oahu, talk to Robert at Blue Planet. Maui, call Steve at HighTech.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

We don't rent or demo foil gear at Blue Planet for liability reasons.  You can try Hawaiian Watersports or the Naish store in Kailua, they might have rentals.

Used boards are starting to show up on craigslist, especially Maui, but also Oahu and Kauai. Might just be able to score one for cheap-ish and flip it (or bring it home).

i was on both oahu and maui in july and ran into the same problem....on oahu hawaiian watersports *i think* rented foil boards 80+$ bucks a day and nobody on maui had rentals...ended up bringing my own board and foil $200 round trip on the airline is waaaay cheaper than a 5 day rental...

Hey,

Thanks for the info.  Yea I want to rent a purpose built foil board instead of bringing my converted SUP over.  If there is magic then I'll buy the one I ride.  I'll check with Watersports.   CL has some foil boards though if I'm plunking down 1k+ might as well get a newer board with the latest ideas of what makes a good foiler incorporated into them.
