Warm water in San Diego
« on: August 03, 2018, 09:51:37 AM »

I live near Pismo Beach, Ca. where the water has been hovering between 51 and 55 decrees all summer...pretty typical.

DIABLO CANYON METEOROLOGICAL TOWER DATA
  SEAWATER TEMPERATURES:
Seawater temperatures will range between 53 and 55 degrees
through Friday, decreasing to 51 and 53 degrees on Saturday
    into Tuesday.

I took a trip down to San Diego near Oceanside last week and the water was a very comfortable 73.  Now I find out the water is even warmer and set a new record.  I have no idea if it will improve surf in the future?

The water temp is a balmy 62 degrees here at Pleasure Point.

Flat as a pancake for the last 5 days too.

Surfed this morning early at SanO. Air temp said 74 degrees in my car. The water is crazy warm. The city lifeguard station says the water is 76 degrees. I saw a guy in a wetsuit too??? I was sweaty hot just trunking it. No breeze either.

Up here on Hood Canal, WA we can generally swim from mid-May to late August. Temps will vary from 70 to as high as 82 degrees on the surface. I recorded 82 degrees about a week ago....warmest I can remember since moving here back in 1983. Makes falling in damn near pleasant!  Winter surface temps are usually in the 40's....so I don't fall much :)........

10 degrees above average here in San Diego.  I'm  guessing this is the longest period of constant over 70 degrees.  It's nice, but I'd rather have surf.

Looks like we're finally getting some near the end of the week :)
