Gaze At My Fleet!
« on: July 14, 2018, 05:49:46 PM »
My nonprofit HVH2O is coming together! Here is my fledgeling fleet!

Yes, I know these are plastic Imagine Surfers, but they're perfect for beginner paddlers. They also won't dent on the omnipresent rocks, and they're wide enough for the clumsiest beginner. Plus, I got the green and yellow one for only $275 each on Craigslist, brand new. Next year I'll add a few Bic Tough-tecs, plus a half-dozen kayaks.

Those are about the best looking plastic sups I've ever seen. Wouldn't mind test driving em. don't break em in the shore pound!  ;D :P
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

I'd never seen one of those before today, but there were six of them doodling around at the event center in Hood river today.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

We did a mangrove snorkel tour on the Imagine Surfer leading to the sea in Tulum.  Tons of fish in and around the underwater scuba tunnel.  Very stable platform and very indestructible -> just a tad heavy.  But a perfect first ride for beginners looking to try SUP.

Fleet is lookin good!   :)

Cool Boards. Do they have fins? They would make awesome fishing standies if they could track a bit.

They definitely have fins. They're the easy pop-off style. I just had them off because I was going to do some stacking. They track fairly well, but you need to make sure to hold your paddle vertically to get more than 3–4 strokes on one side. They would make a good, cheap fishing SUP. No worries about fishhooks hurting the board, plus they're stable as hell.

I don't want to oversell these because they are heavy and slow, but for certain circumstances they're great. The bungie in front is good for a light load, and you could use the handle in front for extra stabilizing if you had a cooler or tackle box.

What's the goal of your non-profit organization?

The goal of the nonprofit is to create a paddlesports and environmental center at my local waterfront (Peekskill, NY). I want to create a resource where anybody can get in the water and enjoy it, without worrying about the expense. I also want to create an environmental center to educate the community about the Hudson River and the local nature, especially school children.

Surfer is about 48 lbs and has a snap in fin.  Worked real good as a snorkelling platform and exploring the mangrove.  We all had no problems keeping the board going straight.

Great. Hope things go well setting it up.
