Creek 9'1 in Hurricane Chris swell

Small Hurricane, small swell.... but worth the trip to a secret spot, with a 100 close friends.  ;)

Relying solely on my failed Soloshot3 has kept me out of the video business for 6 months, so I bought a new GoPro Session5 and resurrected my "Kook Hat Cam" (my Sessions4 finally died in Thailand)

Beasho was foiling and Ruby was on the 9'1 Acid, but it was crowded, so I moved around a lot and never got any vids of them surfing. We tried to get a wave together, so I could film beasho foiling, but it didn't happen......next time!

It's fun to watch Ruby surf, but I missed that as well..... ah, the cost of a crowded summer line-up  :D

My 9'1 Creek was great.... actually the first time I have had it in any real surf, so I am pretty stoked about that!

Nice video Rick, some of your comments made me laugh.   Sorry to hear the SS3 isn’t working for you, I do enjoy watching you surf.  Aside note my SS3 did a face plant in the sand on my first try, I had to send it back to the company but they don’t do repairs.  They are going to reimburse me for the tag and base but I eat the cost of the camera.  No SS3 for me.

I always like watching our videos. I watch for any detail that catches my eye.

I don't know if this due to your hat cam or what, but it seems you don't lift the paddle handle high above your head.

Thanks for sharing your video. Looking forward to watching the next video you share.

Normally, if using the right length paddle and proper stroke, your upper hand needn't go any higher than your shoulder.

Cool cruzin', Creek. You lucked catchin' waves off Cane Chris. Looked quite tasty up there in NE. Here in NJ I rarely even looked at it as one of my toes was sporting a healthy gash from the darn foil. gtg now though. Wasn't easy dry docking for 5 days though. Keep the stoke, brotha!
impressive Beasho can foil in that crowd. I won't go w/in 100 ft of anyone yet...NOOB!
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Thanks for sharing. Chris definitely brought some small but fun waves this week especially for July. Like Nightwing, I enjoy watching your videos and try to pick up little tidbits. I feel much better after watching this one  because I really got the Sheesh thing figured out. For real, one of the best things about your videos is that you don't just show us the ones you crush you show us all of it and I know we all appreciate that. Thanks. And I'm still trying to figure out that whole lunch thing. Awesome.

Nice summer session. The crowd number rises but the warm water and generally
relaxed vibe always seems to compensate.

I hate it too when the surf shirt misbehaves.

Thanks NW..... after viewing a bunch of my vids, this seems to be my MO when paddling into a wave:
I use a paddle that is cut slightly over head, so I have to lean way forward to "catch" near the nose..... this gets my weight forward and low for takeoff.

Thanks for the reply back with the pictures illustrations. Any tip I can actually "see" is most appreciated by me.

I checked how high my upper hand gets and it is right at eye level at it's highest point when going for a wave. The shoulder high that I was thinking about must have been for flatwater/downwind.
