High tide
« on: August 27, 2018, 08:14:41 PM »
Almost had to move....a little water under the wheels. Groms ate lunch on buckets, no surf today unfortunately but we paddled out to the bank and snorkeled and made sand castles.

Nice photo.

I see this on our Texas beaches also when the tide starts coming in and people have to move their vehicles.

Think that should read "Grandparenting"   :)

Here's a new tide and weather device you might want to build. Might keep your tires dry. https://community.glowforge.com/t/tide-weather-display-device/28289  You kind of need a lasercutter to build it.

I've got a Glowforge, haven't done much with it yet though I have determined it can cut carbon fiber with multiple passes, so that's cool. Sometime when I have absolutely nothing else to do (probably about age 115) I might build this:

Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

I like gromparenting…:) ...Aria who is 8 has gone from being afraid to jump into the backyard pool to deep dives in the channel and wanting to paddle across the bay to the Gurnett for a picnic. I have to keep a leash on Landon or he'll hurt himself....again. just recovering from a broken collarbone....dirtbike crash. I think he may do the CCBC next year as a relay with my daughter.

Need to get them some wetsuits this year.

I've been thinking about getting some CNC equipment and maybe a lasercutter but I still haven't even got my surf sign setup yet.

Nothing better. Aria was it, and all we expected there would ever be for years. Then a couple years ago my daughter started dating a guy with a son...Landon. He and I have come to an agreement that I'm his adopted grandfather. Soon to be legal I think. Then my youngest daughter and her husband just had their 1st 2 months ago.....hope I last long enough to teach her to swim... :)

I have four grandsons, the oldest is 21. Fun but frustrating. I try not to get on them about living their lives staring at videogame consoles or building lego thingies, but it's a challenge. If I were their age and I had a grandfather with a shop that had endless tools, material, and toys I'd be all over the opportunity--you couldn't get me out of there. If one of them showed the tiniest interest I'd build that TR3 on my lift into an amazing street car with them, or they could have their pick of classic motorcycles, electric bikes, drones, robots, whatever floats their boat. Just pick up a wrench or a soldering iron.

Crickets.
