One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

In case some of you have "Bean"  ;D wondering how the repair is holding up here's the update. I've "Bean"  :D surfing her alot and unfortunately the breather plug became compromised after about my fourth sesion on her. Guessing the stress of the flex cracked the glass around the plug. Not to worry...Bean said he has a lifetime guarantee on all his repairs.  :) So I dropped the board off at the "Bean Board Barn" and this time he was finally home and it wasn't long before he had the board hooked up to his "Moisture extracting vac". Was super cool to finally meet the repair king/legend in person and we spoke for quite a while. He showed me his quiver which contained a single fin longboard sup, hi-performance 2+1 lngbrd sup, sim style twinny sup, and two cool looking regular prone longboards. Seems he spent a fair amount of time residing in my hometown where I grew up. True Jersey boy to the core. If Bean don't put a smile on your face you've a heart of stone!

I regret to inform that once again I broke the nose of my prized Hull Ripper. I just can't win w/this thing. Paddled like a mile to a wave that was mysteriously breaking while the rest of the area was flat. Caught a few nice waist highs and then mistimed a shorebreak kickout only to have the lip grab the board and send it flying to the sand. Many em effers were spoken as I walked back to my street.
It'll be a Christmas miracle if it gets repaired a second time.

That'll fix.  Just don't stuff the nose again.

I just pinged Bean to see how well that moisture extractor works.

I'm still trying to get 2 lbs out of my foil board and think that thing might work.  Would love to hear from Bean or others on the effectiveness of a full vacuum.

And/or how much vacuum a board can take before it starts to get crushed.  At low enough pressure the moisture has to evaporate.

It can take full vacuum

I ultrasonic leak test boards under vacuum. Often just letting it go full.

Bean met me half way today for the board pick-up so didn't hafta drive near as far. We had a nice lunch at a pizzeria and talked for quite a while. Just got the text the nose is glued back on and the fun's beginning! I think you're the opposite of me w/ding repair. I used to do mine if they weren't bad and was kinda ok at it. Been a while since I did one.

Man, wouldn't that be sweet! New custom Hull Rippers in a full complement quiver! 8'0" up to 9'11'' in several lengths! First I need to buy some lottos though!   ;D

That'll fix.  Just don't stuff the nose again.
Well that's some positive vibes that should help! fingers crossed! LOL...when my notification came in email saying you posted here, I was sure you were gonna say I shoulda been foiling. Hafta admit I'm reluctant to try and continue my foiling lessons in the cold winter months ahead. I fall ALOT still! But I need to dis-assemble the foil and make sure all the components are stored properly.

I like the reused pool rack. My main vacuum pump setup resides on an old portable compressor framework, and my standby pump with homemade oil extractor is built in an old roll around TV stand. it's an oil immersed pump and they generally make a mess spitting oil. Mine has a two-foot stack and a cyclone separator to return the oil to the pump case/ Works fine but has no accumulator or adjustable cut off so it's worthless for anything but air conditioner work.

Bean's been hard at work! 1000 thank you's sir! We met about halfway this time in a little town where he had to visit an Ace Hardware. After he took the board we hit a pizza place for some lunch...my treat.  🤗🍕. We had an antipasto platter that had romaine lettuce and I didn't even remember about the recent recall w/that stuff and went and ate it anyways. Man was I off fhe next coupla days too! Bean said he was fine.
Board's getting there. Cant believe it's actually gonna ride again!
