Surfercook...that looks like a great repair.  Hope that PSH is resurrected and surfs better than before.

Good on you guys for preserving it!

Did you or Bean notice what the carbon construction lay up was?

The preservation was all Bean.
I was ready to chuck the ol girl. I didn't notice any carbon fiber cloth at all. Maybe Bean did.

There was no visible layer of carbon fiber, but there seemed to be a layer of innegra (carbon) or similar under the black stripe.  Unfortunatley the side that the reinforcement was on was the compression side of the break.  Had the board flipped over first, it might have been able to take the hit.

The top, bottom and rails are classic wood-sandwich construction.  Inner glass, bamboo veneer and outer glass...(virtually) bomb proof.

I was a sad sack.
It's so heartbreaking when you wreck a board. It's like part of you is suddenly gone.

Finally picked up the Hull Ripper from Bean. Both drop-off and pickup had Bean absent chasing the American dream (aka working 9-5), so we've yet to actually meet. But we're hoping to surf together one day soon. We did speak for a good length on the phone twice covering a range of subjects. I asked him to send me a pic of him surfing and he obliged.
When I asked him how much $s for the repair he said zero, nada, zilch! Zone karma prevails once again.  :) I did prepare a nicely sized jar of NJ peaches in syrup for his enjoyment. I noticed there was another repair project on deck in the form of a center buckle/break on a pop out longboard.
STOKED! Thanx, Bean! I'll try not to break her again.  :-[

The peaches are safe and sound in my fridge, can't wait to sample them!

Looking forward to surfing with you soon Marc; just need the waves to cooperate.

bean! nice work--and nice aloha--cookie's a good egg--your karma just upticked nicely

i kind of enjoy repairs too--started doing them bc there are no ding repairers nearby, but as my skills improve, it seems less of a chore

just repaired a brand new board that arrived with the tail crunched--enjoying the repair and got it perfect--but annoyed re poor packaging and insurance blah blah paperwork blah blah--got fed up and just repared it--cheap lesson

The part that really gives me the most difficulty is the paint.  When I luck into the right color, I feel like a rock star.  But that's only happened a couple times.  I sometimes think I should just pick a single color and stick with it...no matter what. ;D

I was more worried about the integrity of the repair. First go out w/the repair is a win. The Phoenix has risen!  :)
