Extending the life of my NRS tie down straps.

I've had my NRS 1.5" x 12' roof rack tie down straps for about 2 years now. After about 6 months of almost daily use exposed to salt water, the buckles started getting stiff and not clamping down on the strap. I decided to spray a little WD40 on the spring and pin. That brought it right back to life. I think it even worked better than new out of the package. The past few weeks the buckles started to freeze up again. So I hit them with a little WD40 and they are back in action again.

When I was in the maritime industry, we never used WD-40 in the marine environment. WD-40 gets gummy and doesn't last long. CRC and CorrosionX is what many maritime companies use. Look into the spray on products for CRC and CorrosionX for your buckles.
