Paddle Surf Hawaii Hull Ripper
« on: May 28, 2018, 08:57:56 PM »
Well I still haven't moved forward for foiling. After a bunch of yard cleanups landscaping my right hip is NOT pain free. Did 20-32gln cans of pine needles in two days last week. I had to take it easy last coupla days and move slowly. I can honestly say the 60 is definitely not the new 40! But I'm optimistic it will strengthen.
I did manage to score a new Ripper though. Check it out. I've been on the Bamboo Wide for quite a few yrs now and love it. Saw this one on Craig's for 350 and offered 300...SOLD. New deck padding and nice set of Gerry Lopez quad fins by Future. I messaged Bane Chambers on facebook w/a link to the ad...he was stoked on it and replied w/some details. He's been on my fb since 2012 when I scored my first Ripper.
"Fun board!  Hull Ripper. Paddles nice and can rip turns. There weren’t many made with the black stripe.   Can ride bigger waves too"
I remember when there were a couple in the shop here. Cool boards. Have a feeling it's gonna be a bit faster than the Bamboo Ripper. Quite a bit of gel coat chipping from the paddle. I'd like to put some rail tape over it to protect it from further damage. Never taped up a board b4.

9'11" Hull Ripper (Cross posted in gear) There are no dimensions on the board so I took a tape measure to it. 9'11" and about 31" wide.

Wow, congrats. I’m a PSH fan, but had no idea they came in carbon construction. I had a Hull Paddler, loved it, but was a bear carrying it any distance (not the board’s fault right?) especially at the end of a session.
Anyway enjoy the cool board!

That's just what I'm looking for.

Perfect for those choppy overhead days when I need that extra bit of glide and stability.

Nice looking board. A great find in my opinion. And at 9'11", with 5 fin boxes, you should have plenty of rides for experimentation for determining different fin lengths and fin setups for whatever water and wave conditions you encounter. Looking forward to reading about your sessions with her.

Thanks for the sharing the photos of her too.

Cool you guys are stoked on my new/used board. I had the one tiny rail ding/crack repaired and she's gtg now. Any clues as to getting the rail tape on there? Red would be nice. I forgot to mention that the nose area has a textured deck. Never had a sup w/that. Usually would just wax it up there.
Dusk Patrol- Ever use the "Big Board Schlepper"? Very handy piece of gear. Not sure about carrying a tour/race board w/it though.

Had her out for the maiden sesh. It surfs great! Turns and burns nicely, takes late drops no prob, bottom turns and cuts back easily. Will edit the vid clips l8r. Felt great to ditch the booties!

Looks great! Looking forward to the vid.

...and no, I haven't tried a 'Big Board Schlepper'  but I've thought about them a lot while schlepping.

As another PSH lover here, it was cool to here the thoughts from Blane.

Enjoy the new stick.

A neighbor up the street lost one of those same boards from her dock and it beached on the beach behind my house.  I kept it and surfed it for a bit until I figured out who it belonged to.  I was sad that she wanted it back because it was a great board.

That's so cool! a free Ripper!
After Superstorm Sandy here in Jersey I salvaged my mother-in-laws canoe w/my nephew. It washed up like a mile away up the river. That was one kick ass storm surge. Never saw anything like it.

2nd go out in sheet glass. It was WAY too warm in my 3/2 drylock full. Had a blast. Great board. Amazed at the planing ability of this board. It turns much quicker than the Bamboo.
My buddy was out w/me on his foil. He was like "You can do it, dude".

I was trying to find the original webpage for the Hull and found the Ripper is still available! I wouldn't mind owning a 9'3". Much more narrow than mine. Specs: 9′3″ x 28 3/8″ x 4 1/4″
woulda been nice to put the original webpage in my vid.

Great shots!
Muchos gracias!
Had her out yesterday in some pretty choppy conditions. Workin' well! looks like I'll be puttin' her on a shelf for a while soon as I try and figure out this whole foiling thing! Hopped on my V-box today for the first time in months since that's going to be the fly boy of choice. Muscle memory was pretty rusty but seemed to come back pretty quickly.
