Opportunity
« on: April 08, 2018, 06:03:45 PM »
A dozen or so arborvitae that have stood in our new back yard for 50+ years decided this years string of nor'easters was just too much. I have a serious mess to clean up....I'm about a 1/4 of the way through it. But I see so much opportunity in the mess. I'm getting planks cut for a board build...amazingly light wood. I have an outdoor screenhouse to build. 1st one I built at our old house about 7 years ago...still in solid shape. Lots of fenceposts in there. The arborvitae also carves like butter. We're renovating our guest bathroom and I'm building the vanity and am carving a sink from a chunk...circled in red....and I'm planning on carving another Tiki for the CCBC this year.

It's also my Gym....I've always seen yard work as an opportunity for a workout. I'm piling all the logs and significant sized pieces for  use. This yard has been neglected for years....so no gym membership needed.

I was expecting this to be an ‘opportunity’ for Zoners to help clean the yard... : )

Reminds me of the old saying which is; "When the situation provides you with lemons, make lemonade."  ;)

Free lemonade too... :)

Started carving the sink....looks pretty good so far but may have too much rot inside.... :P

I've been recycling a bunch of stuff here as we do improvements. After we moved in I was inspecting the crawlspaces under parts of the house and found a bunch of wood. Thankfully in the part of the crawlspace that has a concrete floor. It looks like it was framing lumber from one of the many additions that have been done along with some misc other stuff, oak flooring pieces, trim, etc. The nicest find was a sheet of walnut panel that was screwed to the garage wall for some reason, looked like crap when I 1st realized what it was. I already built my wife a rolling kitchen island from all the wood and now I've built the vanity. looks like the island had a kid... :)

The guest bathroom is gutted. Just had the shower pan delivered today. Now the fun begins.
