Forgot my fin

Danger of an Isup - bag full of crap makes you think you have everything.

Mother of invention. It worked a lot better than you might think.

If you've never paddled a board without a fin, it's not easy. The board literally spins away from your stroke and if you're not ready you'll get dunked. I've surfed various boards without fins. It's super loose,  and sometimes really fun. A distance board without a fin is a lot harder and not fun.

I hope you patented the fin shape as soon as you got home :D

p.s. Once I forgot a fin mounting bolt at home. Luckily I had a longboard in my car, so I used one of the bolts that hold tracks :)

My oldest daughter did the CCBC with me back in 2013. She was on a borrowed Speedboard. We were a 1/4 mile out when the fin came off. Figured out after it was a breakaway plastic fin nut in the rear of the fin that caused it, allowing the fin to slide out. The board suddenly went sideways on her and she was pitched (wrong board choice too but that's a different story). I tried getting on it and couldn't even paddle it. We grabbed one of the escort boats and ran back to the beach where one of the guys had a board on his car. The board needed a big fin but all we had was this little 7" dolphin....it worked but man was that board squirrelly.

I bet it tracked pretty well.

Actually - it wan't awful. I think it maybe pulled left a bit? I got in  more left paddles than right - but it was still 6 or 7 or so. I did some short 50 yard laps in the open leed where the creek comes out of the lake - it's open water there first-est.

I took some pics of Swans - they were not  in love with me - they hopped on the ice and waddled off bit then did a lot of honking and took off for the inlet side about 1/4 a mile off

I went first last Saturday in my kayak to see how it looked - the ice is rotten at the edge - turning into "chandelier crystals" ( My name for them) - lots of vertically aligned crystals that you can push aside, that all fall over and lay sideways once they are not packed together.

2nd pic from first day out  - you can see the crystals in the chunk I pushed up on top - this quickly changes from "chunk" to "almost slush".

I've got you all beat.  A number of years ago, I drove about 15 miles from my house to go mountain biking.  Pulled up, got out and realized I forgot only one thing...my mountain bike.  Said a few words not repeatable in polite company and drove home.

I've got that beat. We were going skiing in Big Bear (circa late 70's), and it was dumping snow. The mountain roads were a mess with stuck cars (which we pulled out with our 4WD then put their chains on for $$ ). We made to our cabin and realized we left our Ticket Master purchased lift tickets at home. Back down the hill in the storm and home and back up through the storm..... Fresh powder was the driving force, and it was worth it. Stupid good times ::)
