Only that the man was flown to Queens on Oahu in critical condition.
Prayers to him and his family...

Wow, that's terrible on many accounts. First and foremost that anyone was attacked in any manner, and has to deal with it. So yes, as 808 says, "Prayers to him and his family..."

But that also puts another notch on the "shark attacks SUP" counter in the back of my head, which up to this point still has me staying out in the water when we see them cruising around us somewhat regularly once again where we're SUPing/foiling.

Will continue to stay on the water when they're around, but listening to his just guy talk about their growing numbers, increasing closeness to hanging around the beach, and with momma and poppa hanging around when they used to bug out after junior was on his own a bit.....

....maybe I might have to start reconsidering floating around out their in their midst.  :-\
Me: 6'1"/185...(2) 5'1" Kings Foil/Wing Boards...7'10 Kings DW Board...9'6" Bob Pearson "Laird Noserider"...14' Lahui Kai "Manta"...8'0" WaveStorm if/when the proning urges still hit.

No doubt their numbers are rising, which increases the potential for attacks.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

I spent a few days at Kukio on 2006 and that is a beautiful place. The homes are in the $5M to $20M range and the owners jet in for the weekend. A couple pretty well known paddlers are beachboys there too and it's great that they were able to launch that OC4 and make a rescue. The bump & bite is pretty scary and I'll bet it was one of those nasty tigers.
