Traveling to Matanivusi Fiji Surf Resort - Advice
« on: March 29, 2018, 05:25:49 PM »
Has anyone been to the Matanivusi Surf Resort?

I am going with my wife for an anniversary celebration.  Would anyone have any advice?

I am thinking about bringing my shortest SUP, just to have one.  I have NOT traveled with a SUP on a plane before.  Frankly I haven't traveled much with anything other than a bicycle.

I think we went by it on our way back from Tavarua. Far as travelling with your board, I had no issues with Fiji Air, they were great. Pack it with bubble wrap/pool noodles on the rails.

Traveling with a small surf SUP is usually not an issue but check with your airline first.  I always use curbside check in when traveling with a board, they work for tips and are eager to help you unlike the airline staff at the counter.
We went to Fiji and stayed at Paradise Island Resort.  They had a surf boat but the boat schedule was not reliable, so check into that as soon as you get there.  I think Saturday is the day when visitors on
Tavarua and Namoto leave in the morning and the new ones arrive in the afternoon, so that's the day with the smallest crowd.  My favorite break was swimming pools off Namotu.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement SUPtheCreek.  We'll keep posting once a week but I don't always get to surf beautiful waves like that either.  I'm looking forward to seeing your videos from Thailand and the Maldives, keep up the good work!
