Not on the 88 (90.4 sqi) . The 83 works great for me and is a pretty fast paddle and I surprised myself getting to 42 STM average on 12km last Saturday (I am usually at 39).
The Mana 90 is the biggest paddle I can handle, specially as my cadence is improving (touch wood). The 86 sqi range seems to be my sweet spot for normal paddling (open/DW) and lower for fast cadence. I am also considering looking at an Hydro 78 blade to compare with my Mana 82.

Well if you like hydro - you will likely love trifecta 86 for racing  - so far the fastest paddle for me. Hydro comes in second - there is a big but for me in BP and it is the shaft diameter. I have smaller hands (5'6- 168cm) so it is uncomfortable for me at longer distances. But the blade itself is awesome.

I have the perfect solution for you. KeNalu tapered shaft works perfectly with Hydro. My blade is mounted with a KeNalu Xtuf(S) shaft :-)
Trifecta, I will never know as the price is just out of my range and I like to be able to adjust my paddle with hot glue and saw.....

Thanks for this life hack - if it works that changes everything  ;D Well I hear you about QB paddles - expensive/not as flexible as kenalu in terms of swapping parts/adjustments. I bought all my QB as second hand around $300. New QB paddle prices make me cringe and also new shaft design - I have not been really fond of.

It works. I use my Hydro 83 + KeNalu Xtuf(S) staff all the time with my Ace-GT. Works like a charm DW, open, flat.....
My shoulders and neck only tolerate the Kenalu Xtuf(S) shaft. The 90Flex or the BP Medium are just too stiff at the catch for me.
My Mana 90 and 82 are also mounted with the same shaft model.

Not that I would not recommend the Mana 90. If I had to have only one paddle it would be a Mana 86 (does not exist...yet....)

Well I haven’t tried mana 90 but I feel like I need more oomph from blade on dw. BP 88 worked awesomely on my dw runs but that shaft is too thick for me to grab on the side switch. Also my finger joints start hurting. So if you decide to get rid of your mana 90 let me know.

Will do but only if a Mana 86 is ever produced :-) except that shipping to the USA is a bummer.....
The Mana 90 is certainly oomphy - as much power as the Konihi 95 but nicer on the body.
I do not know about the Hydro 88 but I have found the Hydro 83 very deceptive. It feels like you are not really putting much effort on it but it gets you there.
A little bit like when the Kenalu Konihi 84 first came out.
I am also going to smaller blades for DW, quick successions of smaller strokes rather than one or two big pushes.

My right shoulder has been hurting lately and I managed to pull a tendon on what I guess is actually called my third finger (next to the little) on my right hand--sprint paddling for waves with a foil. So it's back to an xTuf(S) for me. My friend Rod Parmenter left a Mana 82 for me to fix--he hit his foil with it and broke the blade. I did a one-sided repair on it and tried it out yesterday. My, my, quite a paddle. I was actually able to accelerate quicker and catch more waves than with my Mana 90. I need to do the repair on both sides, the tip is now flexing too much after using it, but I found the catch to be very impressive as long as I was focusing on pushing down more than pulling.

More importantly, it's super-quick, probably quicker than a Wiki and definitely quicker than a Konihi 82 or my usual Mana 90. My cadence might be as much as 50% faster with the 82 over the Mana 90. And that's with my third and middle fingers duct-taped together. The quick cadence and good catch mean more acceleration over a longer period. I generally quit after four or five strokes with the Mana 90--very high effort and I just run out of poop. With the 82 I was hitting six or seven strokes and catching waves I wasn't getting with the 90. I am also not pulling myself off the board or sinking the rail as I was doing with the 90--there's less tendency to stretch out the strokes since I know I can get the blade back in the sweet spot quickly.

Before this accidental experiment, I hadn't thought any specific paddle would be important for foiling. Karla Aguera is using a hideous fiberglass shafted heavy log and doing fine. But now I know better.

Talking about shafts, I'm going to mount my Mana 82 on a ZRE oval shaft along with my custom palm grip, that would really make the Mana one of my all time favorite for open water.
Did the same thing to my QB V-Drive and it's really working well. So that's another option for you.

As for the Hydro 88, since it has a very thick shaft, I hope the blade is not too thick for your Kenalu shaft, please check and report back with your findings, that would be helpful.
