sup on a softop? (catchsurf log?)
« on: April 06, 2018, 05:18:24 AM »
Has anyone tried to SUP on one of these?

https://catchsurf.com/collections/boards/products/log-90

9.0” x 24.0” x 3.5” (98 Liters)

seems doable...and could be pretty fun. 24" wide is tough, but maybe not impossible at that length. anyone know of a softtop that's wider (but still not a SUP softop)?

Yes, I SUP the 7-0 Catch Surf LOG.   Don't be discouraged by the width.  Depending on your ability and weight 24" is plenty stable.  Trying SUP on larger surfboards is what made me realize that narrower can be stable and was the inspiration for my 7-0 x 24 Greedy Beaver SUP.   If you want a soft top with more width take a look at the Wave Storm/Storm Blade offerings.  They have an 8' x 25.5" that has similar volume as the 9-0 LOG.

Also check out the Gnaraloo line of soft tops.  They max out at 24" wide but have a couple of models that are 105L and 139L if you need something with a little more volume than the 9-0 LOG.

Don't expect too much performance out of a soft top.  They are fun for cruising and trimming but are not as responsive and dynamic as a hard board with real fins.
