Solite Neoprene surf boot review

Solite neoprene surf boot review

These are 3 mm boots, split toe (internal), that can be custom fit with hot water. Short split toe ankle socks can be ordered separately and well worth the added expense. These boots are feather light and fit me like a glove. They are the closest to bare feet that I have found. The sole is grippy and seems fine to walk on gravel, logs and rocks without discomfort. They are hands down the easiest boot to put on and take off that I have found especially when wearing the solite sock. An added benefit of the sock is that if you leave the sock on when taking off your wetsuit.......the wetsuit slips off your feet. I was worried that at 3 mm my feet were going to be cold. The last four sessions lasting 2-3 hours sup surfing the air temperature was between 1-6 deg C (34-43 deg F) and the water temp 7-9 deg C (45-48 deg F). My feet were warm. I think the socks must add an extra 1 mm or so of insulation. Only time will tell about durability but really I don’t care, if I have to replace them every year that would be fine with me. I have no affiliation with this company.

Cheers

Hi Nightwing

I ordered off the Solite website.

https://soliteboots.com/

Quite rapid delivery. Shipping to Canada a bit pricey but from my point of view well worth it.

Thanks for the link. I saved it to my Bookmarks. I usually like to go barefoot, but I'm going to start wearing some footware because of the bacteria levels in our water.

Thanks for this!  I've been struggling to find hidden split toe in my size.

I tried on a pair of body gloves with the sole molding tech and they felt really stiff like tire rubber.  are these solite soles flexible, or do they soften up after hot molding?
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.

Hi Clay

These boots are quite flexible. The bottom of the sole is divided up into four sections which likely lets the bottom flex. I have not done the hot water molding yet because they fit so well I am worried about somehow screwing them up! I am sure that they would fit even better but why mess with something that is very very good. “Perfection is the enemy of good”.

I've noticed that beyond 5mm, most boots are so stiff that they will not tend to rotate on the foot (which is why I like split toe).

Thermo-Foam Sole: Injection molded from our proprietary foam blend, the Solite sole can be heat-molded with boiling water for a perfect custom fit.

Bummer that it's only the sole portion that's custom moldable. I've had a very hard time finding booties that fit my feet. Every split-toe (hidden and unhidden) I've tried do not fit. Most open-toe boots don't fit either. I really wish someone made booties that were like custom moldable Intuition liners.
Can anyone recommend a good fitting booty for people with Morton toes?
