Opie, thanks for the ride report. It is nice to hear that the homemade foils are working.

It is nice to hear that the homemade foils are working.
Turns out, after three stabilizer adjustments,  it doesn't really work.  Yet.
It has lots of lift at 2 or 3 mph, but seems to top out around 6 mph.  I suspect there is just too much drag. today I tried the Takuma stabilizer and it seemed smoother but I was too under powered  so I gave it up after about 5 minutes. I'll give it another try with the Takuma stab when I get better conditions.

On the other hand, attempt number two with PLA molds looks much better.  I think I got the plate and fuse on straight, in spite of the  fact that my connections all had to be sanded down.  I should have added some space to the connections.   The tuttle type heads wouldn't fit in the boxes.

One other issue that might be a problem is my slicer program update made the last couple mold sections weaker than the previous ones.  The wing mold pieces are also warping a little.  It is going to be interesting trying to squeeze the cracks closed and keep the mold aligned.

Opie, I am super digging the 3D printed molds. I think it is an awesome way to get a CAD/CNC shape but with higher strength composites.

Dude, just catching up on this thread. That mold is cool man. Interesting to see how they come out. Can you lay those up with fiberglass and foam poured in them and join them or do you have a plan for doing them all at once sealed up? This is interesting for sure.

I have to figure out what to do about getting a wing printed. I feel like a Chinese printer is in my future but I really don't need another gizmo around.

A 3D printer is a basic necessity. The only problem is first mover syndrome. I have three printers that feel a bit antiquated though they're only a few years old. I guess my Form1 isn't that antiquated, but I rarely use it. Solves problems I don't have.

For the mast fuse and plate I filled each half slowly, because the pla will melt, and clamped them together.  they are all solid carbon.  For the wing I am making a separate mold at 90% scale and pouring foam into the two wings for cores.  I'll leave the middle solid carbon.
