Just wondering if anybody on Maui got the Nuke Warning.  What a way to start the day.

I was surfing so I missed it. Caught a few bombs at Kanaha, including a board to the kisser, or more precisely my cheekbone, but nothing that rose to the level of a statewide alert. Scared the pee out of Diane, but I was semi-happily trying to pick out the set waves that weren't going to close out.

Wow,  pretty desperate way to clear the lineup ;D I'm glad Trump was not over there playing golf.....he might have been tempted to use that big button he carries around in his bag.

Yes. We got the warning, just as I was about to leave the house. I figured it was a warning about the big swell that was due. The warning was that an incoming missile was bound for Hawaii. Seek shelter immediately. This is not a drill.

We waited to get vaporized for 38 minutes, with no idea that the alert was false. My wife and I texted our kids and were thankful that we were together.

With a blowhard in the White House that tweets about the size of his button and calls other countries shitholes, and another cowboy in NK, the possibility of an attack being real has never felt more likely since I was a kid during the worst of the Cold War. If you're a t rump supporter on this forum and want to give me shit about what I think, F You. Admin, feel free to boot me from here for inappropriate posting. I honestly don't care.

Hawaii's emergency management system took 38 minutes to let people know the warning was false. It was a terrible, unnerving experience.

The big swell is here, and it's awesome. Ended up having a great afternoon in the waves.

My mother-in-law is in Pearl Ridge. She huddled in a basement with her neighbor. Both retired Navy. It was a big scare for her. We didn't hear about it till hours later. A major F-up that they are playing down.

Nice of them to keep you freaked out for 38 minutes when it takes just less than that for a missile to reach Hawaii.  Can't even imagine how long those 38 minutes felt

Yeah, that alarm derailed some plans for me this morning. Credit to Tulsi Gabbard though, she was on Twitter letting people know it was a false alarm within 12 minutes. I guess that makes her three times as efficient as the rest of the state government.

38 minutes for any bureaucracy to straighten out a major fuckup is approaching instantaneous.

Can't see the island at the point of our cove at all this morning, completely swamped with whitewater. That only happens when it's huge. I have some work to do this morning, but then I'm off to the westside.

So one day doom and destruction. The next.... surf the west side? Life goes on. Good to know.
