I am celebrating my first 360 a "Foil Loop."

Took off on a wave turned back out and attempted to reconnect with incoming wave.  Unfortunately nothing to catch.

This was once again 20 seconds of pumping time to gas-out.  Average pumping speed was a little bit lower ~ 10 mph.

Note:

Board: Easy Foiler 6' 6" 115 liters with Straps

Foil:  GoFoil Maliko 200

Beasho, you are going to be a beast by end of summer if you keep this up. I love things like this that are hard but fun so they make you up your game.

I've had the maliko 200 on for the last few days on the water. Though I haven't been able to pump back out to the lineup - I have been able to pump it partway back.  A lot of this is because of this thread's advice, but also because of the huge wing

Beasho, I am very glad that you put these tips to great use!
Being able to pump back out to sea makes this game even more fun. As you noted though, what a cardio workout!
It seems to get easier every week though as we probably become more efficient at it and maybe more fit ( who needs a gym after that?).
I’m having so much fun with it now that I often shorten my ride on the wave just to pump back out. Only drawback is that I have destroyed a brand new paddle by planting it in the wing’s path. At 12mph (seems like the average cruising speed), the wing can be lethal for an immobile paddle blade. I’m learning to plant the paddle away from the path of the foil now. I’m probably going to lose one or two more paddles but it’s worth it!
Here is one of my paddles straight back out on my Kalama 7’0” and GoFoil Maliko 200.

Looking good Dialy!

Pumping with a paddle looks way cooler than without one. When the prone foilers are pumping it looks like they're on a pogo stick which looks kinda silly. With a paddle it looks like you're chopping wood.

Thanks SaMo! I do like having a paddle in my hands rather than just flopping my arms like a featherless seagull. It feels great as long as I don’t let the wing tip crack my paddle blade...
Here is a video of Dave Kalama on the subject of paddling  while up on foil:

That's interesting about hitting the foil with the paddle...considering the mast is 24" long, putting the wing 2' below the bottom of the board. Wouldn't think someone would be burying the blade that deep, but apparently it's more common than I expected. Have to keep that in mind when pumping/paddling.
Me: 6'1"/185...(2) 5'1" Kings Foil/Wing Boards...7'10 Kings DW Board...9'6" Bob Pearson "Laird Noserider"...14' Lahui Kai "Manta"...8'0" WaveStorm if/when the proning urges still hit.

Yeah roger that, but watching everyone pump/paddle...they're rarely more than 4-6" off the water, and the pull/lift doesn't seem to get them much more than 8-10" off of it by the time they're done with the stroke, and pulling the blade out of the water. So they "appear" to still be a good 14-24" away from the foil with their blade...but obviously someone's hitting them or they wouldn't be breaking blades like Dave, and some others have done.

Just thought it was an odd deal, and in the year+ of seeing all of the SUP foilers locally here, I've not seen or heard of one guy doing it. Not saying it's not possible (obviously it is or there wouldn't have been said in the video)...just that it was "interesting" to me, because I'd not seen or heard of it before reading about it here in the Zone.

Hopefully we can learn about it here and avoid learning the hard way.  My paddle is brand new. :)

Oh for sure, and why I ended the above with, "Have to keep that in mind when pumping/paddling", as I too don't need to damage anymore equipment of any kind. =)

I've broken two paddle blades now from hitting the foil.  Creases them right across the middle of the blade.  Foiling is quite the expensive hobby...

It might be worth it to buy a cheap-o plastic bladded paddle until you get the technique down. They are on Amazon for less than $50.
