SIC Maui 2018 catalog now online!
« on: October 27, 2017, 05:25:44 AM »
The new SIC Maui 2018 catalog is alreay online. The biggest news are the much expected RS and Bayonet. Also, a new line of more affordable boards called TAO for beginners, families and recreation. The Agent/Feelgood and Triton remain the same. And now the best part: prices go down! Especially on carbon race boards.

Interesting that they've basically abandoned the FX after just a couple seasons, except as a fat 30", 300L + touring board. The RS looks different enough and substantially better as an all-water race design, though, so I guess it makes sense.

The RS in 14x26 size looks like a great quiver of one board, and a 23 or 24.5 + a Bullet V2 would cover almost any condition I might paddle in.

Discontinuing the X-Pro as well.

I found the FX-Pro was a fantastic upwind board and fun in mellow conditions but I could never get it dialed in when doing open ocean conditions  and eventually traded mine for a Bullet v2.

Cool, now mine's a collector's item. Time to raise the price a couple hundred bucks!  ;D

That's great that you were able to trade for the V2. Great board for all conditions paddling and downwinding.

Def the Bullet 14V2 is all conditions classic while the Bullet 17.4 fantastic for big DW.  But would agree that something like the RS23 and 14V2 would cover most situations for me.

Looks like the Bullet 14 and F16 have also been dropped.  Shame as they are impressive DW boards in their own right.  Especially that F16 with FAST.  Really good for short steep waves we predominantly get up Squamish way.

Planing hull designs are excellent for DW stability.  As they really make pounding over waves a huge amount of fun.  Both SIC and SB really have upped their game producing a very wide range of really good high quality boards.  Thumbs up.

The RS 12/6 x 27  looks very interesting. A fast high volume 12/6.  For my 215 lbs

Looking forward to try the RS soon. I hope it's as versatile as they claim it to be for ultra distance races here. Last time I spoke to Mark, he reckons that its more versatile than the X-pro in various flatwater conditions. And he knows there's no better place to test that than the 220km Sup 11 City race.

Looking forward to test the RS23 against the Pro-Lite!

Nice to see a low standing area while not being a clog.

Let us know how this turns out.  My guess is that the tail will be more stable than the Pro-Lite.  Overall the RS23 looks to be a fast shape for AW taking some cues like a bigger nose and dropped deck and wider tail from the AS23.  As well moving to a channel now to compete vs the AS triple concave.  More than likely -> any 23" board like these will go about the same speed and the pilot and a bit of luck will determine who wins.  Would be nice for fun to compare the 2 side by side.  But doubt that the local dealers will bring a RS23 in unless prepaid on special order.

I'll test the RS 14 x 24.5, the 14x26 and the 12'6 x 25'' in a couple of weeks. Really excited!
