I imagine keeping one's sense of balance engaged is a good thing overall.

Interestingly, I clicked on the link, then back to the zone, and immediately there was a Fluid Stance banner ad in the margin. That's fast...

Do you have to wear those stripper shoes to ride one? If so, can I get them in transparent plastic with goldfish inside?

At $489 USD that seems a tad pricey.  We have a plastic balance board that cost about $20.  Good for a bit of balance practice with weights -> but found it kinda boring after a while.  Much better to just go outside to SUP or SB or ski or run down hills for balance.

For that price you could get a Goofboard, Indo Board and goldfiish pumps  ;D

Haha!

This is what we use at home.  Simple light dumbbells and a balance board.  First with 2 legs then transitioning to 1.  Pretty much left for only rainy days tho.  Our 20 something kids can balance on this easy with eyes closed.  Me not so much.  Not fair at all.  But it is what it is.  ::)

Who the hell spends $200 to $500 for something like this? A piece of plywood and a $10 balance pillow or even just spend an hour in the shop and make one. Nice idea and design but the price is ridiculous for what it is.

...'reminds me of supplement peddlers  These folks tag the 'Mayo Clinic' as if they were co-developers.  Here's a little about 'NEAT' from the NIH library:

"Non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT) is the energy expended for everything we do that is not sleeping, eating or sports-like exercise. It ranges from the energy expended walking to work, typing, performing yard work, undertaking agricultural tasks and fidgeting. Even trivial physical activities increase metabolic rate substantially and it is the cumulative impact of a multitude of exothermic actions that culminate in an individual's daily NEAT."

I do like the apparent low-rise.  I have busted my ass on a GOOF board (I was the goof) ...I got two INDO bubbles to make it more board-like but become suicidal in about 5min.   The only one I really like for balance is a slack line; it's so damn difficult I will never get bored.  It just seems hard to find the time to rig it.    ...I need to go camping - where I am isolated from other demands and can rig it in the trees.
