New Year...New SUPs...
« on: January 03, 2018, 03:19:15 PM »
So, I've been busy lately tweaking on my SUP board designs...

We are building an 8'2" x 29.5" x 4.25" WD Gyro @ 116.6 liters for Scott...this is a squash tail WD with a relaxed rocker and pinched rails ...

We are also building a 9' x 30" x 3.75" @ 120 liters Stoke "NR" (Nose Rider) for Bryan...it features a thinned out volume distribution with a relaxed rocker and increased nose width...

Love the squashtail

Would buy the Noserider (upsized to my dimensions)!  A board like that has lurked in my mind for a while.

Wardog, what would a 9-9 x 33" Noserider at 165L come out to in thickness?

Aloha Jim,
Happy New year!

So, a Stoke NR at 9'9" x 33" would come in at max thickness of 4.3" to net 165 liters of volume...

Here's a couple of 3D renderings...

Aloha Jim,
Here's a couple of shots showing the outline profiles of the Stoke NR and Stoke blanks that I just had CNC'd...
I'll get better pics as soon as I can get down to the glass shop after HWY 101 reopens this week...but, you should be able to see the fuller nose and flatter rocker...etc...

Aloha Esteban,
Here is the 9'9" x 33" Stoke NR with a squash tail...that design tweak brought the thickness down to 4.23" to net 165.22 liters...
Looks really fun!

This is a 3D rendering...

Highway 101 finally reopened, so I was able to finally get south of Santa Barbara for a SUP sesh and to dial in Bryan's 9' x 30" x 3.75" 120 liter Stoke NR...

Came out SUPer clean...some really nice sexy lines and curves on this one...pretty stoked with it...

Nightwing, I saw your board this weekend.   Very sweet.  The orange is stunning.
Actually I saw all three, and came this close to buying one myself.  The Etech boards look fantastic and are super light.

Thanks for the compliment. I'll make this short since I don't want to hijack WarDog's topic thread. I originally wanted Burnt Orange for the orange color, but the Burnt Orange color is copyrighted by the University of Texas (Longhorns) at Austin, Texas. WarDog presented me with the alternate color you saw in person and since I'm easy to deal and work with, I approved the color he chose.
