new paddle blade day!

supposedly a factory defect, but I can't find it.  Helicopter tape blade wrap (thinner and more durable than electrical tape).  Excited is all -

Factory defect for Ke Nalu blades used to mean the finish wasn't perfect coming out of the mold, so it got sprayed with some acrylic, though sometimes it means the logo is a little twisted. Standard procedure for most blades but Ke Nalu blades are supposed to be perfect out of the mold. I suspect that's still true.

why do you tape your paddle?

i have 3 werners and never taped them and they in great shape after tons of usage. do the Nalu tend to crack?

Congrats looks nice. That Molokai 105 is the one KeNalu blade I have yet to try. I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum with a Wiki 74 for surf and a Mana 82 for race.

bummer.  On my third session out I took a hard stroke and the blade broke right at the the connection point to the shaft.   Maybe there was an invisible (to me) flaw that made this a factory second.  Will certainly be talking to kenalu about this

Contact Lane (LM) with a Zone instant message. He'll take care of you. That's the one place a KeNalu paddle shouldn't break--the ferrule construction is much stronger than typical paddle construction and is internally braced.
