The deck pad on this board is lifting at some of the corners, as shown in the attached photo. It peels back about an inch now, and is getting gradually worse. What is the best way to deal with that?

It is a new board and custom deck pad which has only been on there for about 2 months. Is this a bad sign and should I start over, or can it be re-glued successfully? If re-glued, what sort of cleaning, prep and application?

Thanks very much. Your advice is appreciated.

PS. Picture is about a week old. It is a little worse now.

Oh my god!..... New board for Christmas  ;D

Sand a little, then typical contact cement. Let both surfaces dry (per instructions) before sticking them together.

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

+1 with TallDude. Contact cement, follow the instructions.

Check the pad for any other lifting spots. Sometimes water gets under and migrates. Salt water seems to weaken the glue on some pads. My Stun Gun has had the same issue. Contact cement worked well.

Thank you. So you would use contact cement over the 3M 90 spray adhesive. Do you clean with alchohol or anything, or just use water and a clean cloth? Do you try to get under and sand? With like 180 grit?

A technique used in the glassing business is to first blow the loose dust off with an air nozzle or your mouth. Then get the stuck particles off by dragging a piece of masking tape face down across the area. I'll stretch out an 8 or 10" length of masking hand to hand (even longer if it's a whole board) and sort of saw side to side with it while holding it flat. Works like tack cloth. I use this technique before a hot coat to insure the surface is totally clean of any loose particles. The spray can contact cement doesn't have much body /filler to it, so the over all hold won't be as good. It's fine for upholstery, but the can version of contact cement will give the the best long lasting hold. 180 is fine.
