which models would be best for this wave?

This is Tom on a very soft wavelet using an 8/10 speed in SDiego.

Once on the wave, would a Shroom or Skate or Longboard have more action?

Would a Shroom or Skate catch the wave as easily as he is doing?

Bille,   Rick is clearly the best person to answer your question, but since he seems to be AWOL, I'll add a couple of pieces of his experience with these two boards.

Some are repulsed by the Tomo shape.  I love the Shroom's stability in my washing machine conditions (I would kill for a week of waves like Tom had ...then go find some juice.)

From what I remember, he never got to either the nose or tail  ...I doubt there are much more than two butt-wiggles of improvement to be had on a different board, but then I don't have the experience to qualify that statement.   (I would still kill for even a few days of that...)

If happy on the 8’10 Speeed then I’d look at the 8’3 Shroom.

ha ha... I have been so busy testing boards, cameras and filming amazing flat-water paddle trips that I have been AWOL  :)

I actually started to make a new Skate video to respond to this thread, but an opportunity to test an 8'10 Creek called me to RI yesterday and SoloShot3 arrived when I got home.

Skate is my suggestion for Tom's wave.... video by tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving..... I gotta go surf and test Solo3 ;D ;D ;D

submerged in RI yesterday....

Billekrub:
as promised.... I made up a vid showing my 9'2 Skate in sloping, low power waves, so you can get a feel for it.

@ Creek

I'm glad you made this video. It also helps me since where I sup surf on the upper Texas coast, we have a lot of soft waves so the video gave me some pointers I can use.
Blue Planet Duke: 10'5" x 32" x 4.5" @ 190 Liters (2 Dukes)
Sup Sports Hammer: 8'11" x 31" x 4" @ 140 Liters
SUP Sports One World: 11'1" x 30" x 4.5" @ 173 Liters
CJ Nelson Parallax: 9'3" x 23 1/2" x 3 3/16" @ 78.8 Liters (prone surfing longboard; Thunderbolt Technologies build in Red construction)

The speed was not designed for thiswave but as you can see,it works well. The wide nose makes it easy to catch small waves but it also works well on late drops on punchy waves. You can ride and turn while standing mid board, but to shred you need to get your foot over the side fins
