Just released the new boats for Americas cup in 2021. This is going to be a exciting few years to watch the development of these boats!

I almost didn’t click on that but man, am I glad I did. That’s nuts. Articulated foil keels/masts, running on 2
of the 3 foils. I can’t see how this isn’t going to push pleasure boats forward. The tech is just so advanced.

Thx for that.

Such a cool move. Boats look sweet. Much closer to Open60's.

Racing will be fun.

Really? just wait and see.

I think it's smart. Once you're foiling why bother with multihulls.

I've often wondered why foils on passenger and ferries never took off. It's probably because of ports and lack of depth. With articulating foils however...

Thanks UK...   I love those things.  I watched the Newport RI Cup Race from a CG vessel—what a waste of time    ....'watching paint dry from 2mi away.

It's just too bad those sponsors don't buy some US primetime TV.  Same thing happened with the DAKAR.  It got lost.

Really cool to see them transition flat with all 3 foils down

Really cool to see that ballasted elevated windward foil in leeward foil down mode

Really cool to see that impossibly thin leeward carbon board on its own against all that force.

High speed = high cost.  The foil boats were all designed as high-speed vessels--no attempt at low speed foiling for improved economy. Once you get the hull out of the water the temptation to go fast is just too much. The experience for passengers is oddly unsatisfying also. I took a high-speed ride down the Rhine instead of the more common standard boats: "Oh, look, a castle".
"where?"
"too late, behind us, but there's another one."
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

In NY Harbor, back in the early 70's, the Port Authority was concerned dead heads.  The high speed cats have proven pretty reliable...still the best ride into the city.

Yogi, sorry, my bad American English was confusing. I totally think this wifi affect pleasure boats. I can't see why bayliner doesn't have a cruiser on every lake with a wing, other than the cost.

Admin, I hadn't thought about the crazy strength to size/weight ratio there. Incredible.  Also loved the flat mode and the live changes as they sailed.

Seabubbles was founded by Anders Bringdal (ex pro windsurfer) and Alain Thébault (hydroptère)

Seabubbles is planning to first operate right where I SUP. They got stuck in talks with Paris over infrastructure costs whereas here local authorities here appear to propose to finance their docks.  So they're planning to deploy their first fleet here. They were demoing here the other day (their cover photo is from that day).

I didn't register Bringdal was behind it too, Thébaud was presenting that day. Cool. I remember Bringdal from early days windsurf regattas. We're the same age. I wonder if he's noticed that Seabubbles site misspells his name? Or am I misspelling it?

Cowboy, oops. My bad reading. I read way to fast. Yes. Agree.

edit to add:
I think Seabubbles will have fixed routes between their docks. What would be really cool is if they could ferry us upwind for downwinders. I wonder what kind of conditions they can handle. They don’t look too seaworthy.

This is looking good for a baby foiling mono.  That would be a gas to sail round here.
