The Deep Velocity looks like a very nice board too. Definitely dig the orange :-) Pity it is very unlikely to make it to Canada ever.
Oz is very well served for clogs Sunova, OneSup,NSP,Deep

Hey Luc, Right now all we have are demo boards in the US but we will be at Surf Expo so hopefully we can meet some Canadian dealers.

I'm in Western Canada, too, and really like the look of the DW and surf boards. Hope you get some interest from dealers from north of the border.

Howe Sound, that is my favourite paddling ground every week-end :-)
A nice orange velocity would look good DW in the sound....

And you could sell the used demo boards :-)

Sorry Luc the demos have to last me till the end of the 2018 season. I'm really enjoying the 25" wide Velocity in the downwind and offshore stuff.  It surfs surprisingly well too.

I'd like to hear more about what clogs have the most potential to be "one board quivers" for both flatwater racing and rough water / downwind use.

So far we've got one assessment that the SB Ace is at a significant disadvantage in pure flatwater compared to the Sprint or AllStar, implying that it's only competitive in rough water or downwind conditions.

On the other had we have some clogs that are marketed as being good for all-around conditions including flatwater. E.g., the NSPs and the blue nosed Sunova. I've paddled the 14x24.5 NSP in flatwater and estimate that its speed is on par with the 14x24.5 Allstar. To that I'll add that I know a guy who is fond of the ONE Storm 14x25 for all-around racing and downwinding.

I've had the clog-like (but flat deck) 2014/15 model Fanatic Falcon in 14x27.25 and 14x24.75. My impression of those Falcons was that they were only slightly slower in flatwater than comparable cutting-nosed boards, like 0.1 kph slower. If the 2016/17 Fanatic Falcons gained a little flatwater speed, as advertised, then I reckon they could be a viable do-it-all choice.

This is exactly where my thinking is at that stage.
I have learned to enjoy paddling the Vapor and the Ace-GT to the point that a low rocker clog could be an ideal all-around board.
I definitely prefer paddling very close to the waterline.
So an Allwater Sunova or equivalent could be the ticket for flat/choppy/light DW and completed with the Vapor fro down-winding when things pick-up of simply for the day you want to get out of the clog.
I just do not feel the need of a displacement board fro flat and prefer to keep the same "feel" that the nose of a clog or a Vapor gives.

The problem with a sharper entry dugout is a reduction in stability.  That is why the Ace at 23.5 feels so solid.  Its fat tubby boof and low COG offset the very unstable pin tail.  So overall it feels quite planted.  But the 23.5 does feel huge vs my AS23.  The board feels like carrying a whale on land.  It is very big and tubby with huge side walls.  Do not expect to sit comfortably in that board.

No doubt you can opt for a narrower more efficient front end with another brand.  But expect to give up some stability.  How much?  Only a firsthand demo will tell.  So there are compromises.  Always compromises.  Look at how wide the Ace nose is vs the Sprint on plan.  Big.  Very big.  Even at 23.5 wide.

Here is a relatively accurate summary comparing different style boards.  You can see that the speed of the Ace is not its best attribute.  Not to say it is a slug at 22.5 because pretty sure it is not.  But comparatively to other designs within the brand it is a bit slower.  Certainly a dugout can be ok as a one board quiver.  Pretty much any board can.  Just that it may not be best board for the conditions -> if given a choice.

What is interesting is that a lot of board makers are now dropping the width of dugout pintail race boards to accommodate racer requirements.  Before 27 was narrow then 25 now 23 and under.  But at a certain point there is a limit vs a wider option.  Perfectly fine to let the racers determine what that limit is.  As any of the boards listed below would be a fun board to boot around in.  Each probs feels a little different vs the other.

Ace 22.5
Deep 23
NSP 23
425 Pro 23
Sunova 24
One 24
Infinity 24
Mistral 24.5
