I am super stoked to see this event and super amazed that they are going hold it in the forecasted conditions.

I'll be there, the tall guy who's rocking the Tom Hanks Castaway look, with the interesting cameras rig.  ;D

The way I heard is the course will start in the ocean and they come into the beach twice.

Red Bull confirmed last night on Facebook that the event is a go for Friday:

It is really a shame that no women are invited. Also sad that none of the invited men are commenting about this discrimination.

hmm, how the hell will they start in the ocean? Last year they started on land, but still went twice to the beach. Its going to be carnage just getting out to start, then they have to wait out in the ocean for everyone else to come out?
Last year the waves were small and it was still havoc.

Lenny made one small mistake that caught him going out from the beach the last time and that connor guy waited..looked at the waves and walked to a slightly better position. It was super exciting.
I'd be super surprised if everyone finishes. I just hope no one gets injured. OB is no joke in those conditions.

likewise hope no one gets hurts---but really want to see this tomorrow---i stopped being lazy and looked, but couldnt find anything indicating a plan to stream

many have discussed the difficulty of presenting sup racing in a compelling fashion---well, here is clearly an opportunity to present exciting action---with beach view and drone, this could be pretty sensational

if anyone has stream info, pls post

hmm, how the hell will they start in the ocean?

Yeah right?  I was thinking okay if it's 6-8 then they wait for everyone to paddle out, rest a bit, and then go.   But at triple overhead plus who knows?  There is a boat that has done Mavericks support and holds like 30 boards and people...

Or maybe this is all part of the hype and they are going to reschedule for more reasonable conditions???  If no one finishes or even makes it out that would probably make history and sure to make a lot of headlines?

The forecast is for onshore winds, OB gets so nasty when it's onshore, at 2 feet it's a mess at 20 feet I can-not-even-imagine how gnarly it will be.

Sending good vibes and wishing health to all the participants.

Does anyone know when the actual race will start? It says 9 am but last year we were waiting for quite some time.

California buoy is typically a 12 hour indicator.

20 feet at 16 seconds will put most Hurricane swell to shame.

That sucks. Their silly useless recaps suck.

Someone should refer them to a media house that knows how to film an event.
