SIC RS 2018
« on: September 27, 2017, 06:02:37 AM »
The new RS by SIC was offically unveiled in Europe last week, during the Paddlexpo (despite a few riders already competing with the board during the current season).

Sizes:
12'6 (23,5''; 25'' and 27'') and 14'0 (23''; 24.5''; 26'' and 28''). Pictured here is the 14 x 24.5''

A lot changes compared to other SIC boards like big nose and partially recessed deck.  The tail looks like the FX tail but wider? What's going on with the bottom of the board?  I haven't seen that before.

I see the Bayonet in the background. Any more pictures of it?

Take a look at the Infinity Blackfish... Practically the same. Though I think this board will perform
better than the Blackfish based on my short experience with it.

I'm glad one of the elements of their collaboration with Larry Allison hasn't changed... Fin placement
looks like the same position of the prototypes, but they removed the  twins and ventral boxes ( I heard supply issues was the cause)
in progress...

As an Infinity dealer in Portugal (and SIC), I see some similarities with the Blackfish, but they are do have a lot of differences (but more things in common than differences). One thing that they have in common is that thay are all-water boards and that you can paddle a narrower board than what you are used to.
I was hoping it would come with multiple fin boxes, and Larry, Anthony and Mark worked together on this. Don't know what happened.

From what I understand, they pushed the 4 fin introduction for next year, the official reason was available supply issue at launch but I believe is mostly because of Mark.
After talking to him, It looked like he had second thought about it due to insufficient trial and feedback from one particular team rider.

As for the shape, as you said many similarities, but one thing to note is how sharp are all the lines on the RS, sharp rails sharp channel line sharp nose.
This board was design for speed and from what I understand, it suppose to push-out the X line at some point.

I still believe the Blackfish has slight advantage in rough water for a certain width, that's mostly the reason Mark dropped the deck even further after the Carolina Cup
once they knew their not going to have the 4 fins in, as yo can see the pics below (with 4 fins)
in progress...

Do you have a go to shop in FL for that or are you going to wait for next summer in Maui? ;)

Hard to demo anything in Florida, it is almost like you have to buy after a demo. I am planning on doing M2M next year too. Maybe even Naapali race in Kauai too :)

This looks like the board I'd hoped the FX would be. If I hadn't sprung for a Sidewinder this year, I'd be lining up for one of these next year!
