2 weeks in Baja
« on: September 21, 2017, 12:09:27 PM »
Just got back Monday from my annual 2 week Baja SUP trip. Surf has been so bad this summer in San Diego that this was a huge treat. We had a couple of days of shoulder high waves and the rest was waist high.

Check out the crowd

the next day the crowd doubled

Looks great!  Did you travel down the coast, or just surf the bottom tip?  Did you hit Scorpion Bay?

the  spot  is about  1/3 of the way down , about an 8 hour drive   from   the   border .  40 miles  of graded road.

one  of  the  highlights  was no cell or Internet  for 2 weeks

I'll  be  heading  there  next  year  around  labor  day if you or anyone  else  is  interested . it's  camping  with  no facilities  in a very  windy  place  where  you  have  to  bring  everything , water , food , and  beer

2 weeks off the grid and out of touch anywhere, doing anything sounds great.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

The spot is the best know secret windsufing spot there is, Punta San Carlos.  We went there a day after hurricane Lidia just passed and could not drive in until the next day we had planned.  In the spring and summer it can blow 30 knots night and day for weeks straight, but in later summer, the wind usually doesn't come up until around noon.  Of course, weather doesn't always do what its suppose to.  The threat of strong winds keep most surfers away. This trip I was able to surf  every day except 3 or 4 and my buddy was able to kite surf every day but 2, one because the wind was too strong for his 6 meter. I'd call this one a very successful trip.
