Awesome !

We'll have to step up our game here in Northern California and start making some videos.

Conditions haven't been good enough lately for long flights but . . . .  they're coming.

That is a very good foil video. And the guy riding the foil board makes it look easy doing so.

I see the Hippy (Junya) is still doing a surf stance with his feet off the centerline. Nice to know that's possible. With my sucko balance a surf stance might be the way to go.

Doesn't it look like Dave's board and foil runs over him at 33 seconds in?

I imagine there is a whole new set of rules when it comes to eating it.

It does indeed, though I suspect he went teed when he hit for just that reason.

Looks like you are going no straps.  Is it a mix of guys straps vs no-straps these days on Maui?  When I tried it behind the boat I was using straps and, despite not being a windsurfer or kiter, they felt pretty natural - not sure how they'd feel while paddling for a wave or taking off though.

While filming this I was watching it unfold, and thought for sure it hit him.  Especially how the board looked like it hit something.  Dave came up I said you OK, that looked like it hit you.  He said no, but he had his hands up just incase.  Turns out the foil lifting through the water is what saved him. :o

I go no straps cause it'd make paddling very uncomfortable, if not impossible as I'm a "proner" and not going SUP style.  I've tried foil with paddle/SUP and didn't like it.  Sure it helps on the paddle out, but that's it (for me).  The paddle restricts independent arm movement and also forces your posture/shoulders to an un natural position for surfing (for me).  Foil is all about subtle movements above the waist, didn't like having to compensate my natural posture.

Although, most guys SUP foiling are going straps, and the prone guys not.
