I got too fragile.  I was having the dog pull me and used a Big Stick as a paddle. Stepped up from a 45" Hobie to a 60" board from FL   ...helmet, elbow pads (after a big ouch) and wrist guards.  As I did not have any stunt or gymnastic training, I don't seem to fall well — 'seems to come too fast to plan a landing. I have rural, rough'ish roads.  I quit while I was intact.  Good luck to you  ..it was fun.

I bought a Hamboard Fish, 4'6"and put the heaviest springs in it to simulate a SUP as much as possible. This thing has really helped my paddling, in some ways I did not expect.

-It's a lot of work to push yourself along on it and it has turned out to be a tough workout.
-The board is wide and stiff enough that you have to put a foot on a rail to turn it sharply.  That's awesome.
-It's been tremendous for practicing paddle hand switching cutbacks, something I wasn't able to pull off until now.

I feel kind of stupid being 60 years old and pushing myself along on a skateboard with a stick, but I've come to the point where I really couldn't care less what people think of me.  I'm having fun.

it is fun skateboarding but not fun when you fall.

One of my buddies is in his later 60's and still does it almost every day. He was a big time surfer from Huntington Beach, and just loves cruising up and down PCH carving away with his board and stick. He actually has 4 trucks on his board. The two inner trucks sit a little higher so they don't touch the pavement until he carves hard. He said his turns just snap with the extra trucks.
I spent most of my junior high and high school years doing skateboard contests, but my Ortho doctor knew me very well. It's always hurts more falling from a skateboard.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

I find riding the OneWheel helps.

How often do you ride yours and have you crashed?  I've been so tempted to pull the trigger on one but will have to do a lot of skillful money laundering to get that past my better half.  The biggest insult would be to then end up in the ER because of it.

Thanks, TD.  Glad to hear about the guy older than me doing the land SUP thing, makes me feel less stupid.

In my sophomore year of college, I lost it at the top skateboarding a half-pipe and broke an ankle.  Sounded like a carrot snapping when the bone broke.  Full leg cast and crutches for a couple months.

I have the original version which is supposed to be less stable than the newer releases, but still find it very user friendly. Helmet is always a good idea.
