Beautiful and scary. It looks like a good 3 to 4 days of rain heading your way. Fingers are crossed......
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Ripper of a fire and I hope everyone is staying safe through the Gorge. Good news is the end of fire season is in sight with several days of rain in the forecast. Still several very active fires burning in BC and while cooler temperatures have helped over the last week, rain is the only thing that will stop many of these fires. 1.2 million hectares burned in BC this summer and counting. Brutal.

I was hoping to drive to Bill's shop from Seattle tomorrow.  Is there any way to get into Hood River from the east?

From Seattle just go I-5, I-205, then Washington hwy 14 East until you get to the Hood River bridge. From it will only add about 30 minutes to your trip over the normal I-84 route. I've been driving it the last few weeks.

Spirit didn't have any problem, she showed up just as I was getting ready to take Diane to lunch, so it was a quick thing, but I loaded her up with a pretty good 11'6" Naish Nalu, the bag that went with it, and a old KeNalu Wiki I had kicking around that fit her like it was cut for her. Nice to pay some of this stuff forward.

And yes, it's raining. The air is clean and clear, the fire is sputtering and given the forecast, should be pretty much out in a few days except for the deep stuff in the guts of old snags. That stuff can brew for a week or two and pop back up. The crews will be looking for that to tear the snags open and get it put out. But with so many acres burnt and such tough terrain, this fire won't be dead until winter.

Now we have to worry about mudslides, falling rocks, and flash floods with the naked hillsides.

My daughter called today, she's done with the fire she was fighting. Heading back to her respiratory therapist job. She has had training as chief EMT, but just the basics, but they wound up with no lead for a while, so they stuck her in. From all reports she did great and a team from California has asked her to join their crew when she has availability. She's such a badass.

Thank you, Pono, for the great paddle and board!  I had no problems getting to Hood River, and none getting back to Seattle.  I even got decent gas mileage with the board on top.  I was glad to see some rain down there---I hope you don't get those mudslides!  Rain most of the way back...summer's over.  :(.  I'm ready for some PNW paddling!
So happy!!!!
Thanks again!  I will pay something forward as well to keep the good vibes rolling.

Pono's the man! Spirit, you're going to love that Nalu. I've had the same one for years, and it's always been the favorite board of my entire family. So much so, that I bought another used one that showed up on CL last month. That board is virtually indestructible. Your little pal will love it to:)

That good Karma is just raining all over the Gorge.....

I'm stoked!  It's cold and grey here, but that won't stop me from paddling.  Paddle, look for a job, paddle, look for a job......
Yes, Stella will love it, too!
