I love how he is foiling along the crest of the wave and still seems to be fully powered. This is something you can't do without a foil. Also love at the end how he takes mad gas and comes out rock steady. Sooo sick!!!! I noticed that when I am foiling, the foil acts as an anchor in turbulent situations, where on a regular board I would have been blown up. Especially going over whitewater on the way out. Its super nerve racking but I believe I can get through worse whitewater on my foil than on my regular sup.

I'm still waiting for someone to try foil surfing the back of a wave. I'm reasonably certain a foil could venture back there once it's rolling and stay powered up. In fact, I'm pretty much nearly almost totally certain. If you can ride along the crest you can ride the back of it. It's probably a problem of mental pictures of what works--I see in most videos that as soon as a foiler goes over the crest they pull out, but there's the same amount of energy moving in the same direction. A tiny difference in vector force from gravity's assistance in the direction of travel, but not enough, I think, to really preclude it from working. A longer mast would help.

You're getting pretty good foiling Beasho. Who needs waves? I noticed near the end of Zane's video, he bunny hops the reef near shore. That shows a whole nother level of awareness / skill. I'm just waiting till they (kids) learn to just skim the foil on top of the water like a floater.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

TD I noticed that too. Coral heads all around and he just threaded them and then popped over that little reef wall. Crazy.

Beasho you are getting that thing down!  Really nice ride, you looked totally stable and in control, which is no easy feat.  Was that just a swell wave or did it break a little when you took off?

All of my waves were caught after they broke on the Kai foil.  With the Maliko foil it was possible to catch a wave that was just cresting but not truly breaking.  Once caught the waves can be ridden hopping from trough to trough on unbroken sections.  It's much easier on the Maliko, like having super-human capabilities.

Makes sense, thanks for the clarification.  Looks like Alex is reposting your videos on facebook.  You popped up a couple of time on my FB News Feed.

Great idea Bill never thought of that. I have a couple of times gone over to back to wash off speed then back onto the face , next time I'm in that situation I'll try and stay and the back of the shoulder.
