Great videos, thanks Beasho.
This video of Eric Terrien shows that not only Austin Kalama can foil in flat water conditions.

He's no Kai but it looks like he wants to be.  Two time Mavericks Champion talks surf, SUP and Foils:

Of course, he’s best known for his big wave exploits, but Twiggy Baker is a “just add water” kind of man–someone who can surf well on a variety of crafts, whether it’s under a kite, with a paddle, or on a giant wave.

That, more and more, is a hallmark of a truly great surfer.

But even the truly great surfers have to learn something new sometimes. “I enjoy feeling like a kook again,” he says. “Learning something new–and with foiling, if there’s a few people in the lineup, I’m at the end. I’m the worst surfer in the lineup.” - The Inertia

No wind, no waves, now I can foil.  OK.  Now I get it.

Sweet thread.  Our mutual friend sent me this, it melted my brain and I am super stoked on the possibility of ripping on a foil like this:

Then there's Laird pontificating while he is FOILING.

And filming with 360 degrees perspective.

The Stoke continues.  Or maybe it has just started.

The genesis: Kai discussing his foiling origins

How did I miss this one?

This is super encouraging for downwind Foiling.

That was such a flat day. In fact the whole time Dave and Alex were here the Gorge was crappy. Rod Parmenter is totally obsessed with foils, he's out almost every day now, even when there's no bump at all. This is in the Hood River marina.

Might be the first example of a "Non 20 Year Old Hawaiian" pumping in flat water.

I leave town and Kai shows up to surf in my backyard.

This is called Black Hand Reef it is ~ 1/2 mile south of Mavericks.  The swell was 18 ft @ 16 seconds.  You can see an example of the swell size from the Jetski in the background.
