White board easier to fix dings?
« on: July 25, 2017, 12:37:12 PM »

I get to choose a color for a new board. A light color is always good so it doesn’t heat much in the sun. I’m thinking of getting white.

Is white a lot easier to repair eventual dings?

Before it turns yellow yes, after it turns, color is better.

basically anything without paint is a dig repair dream there so easy to do compared to having to color match and spray every repair!

It's painted.

Will white paint always turn a bit yellow with time?

all colours will change over time slightly. white is fairly easy to match quite well

In spite of yellowing, I still think white is by far the easiest color to match.

If you have them paint it with a color that is readily available to you, then the repairs will be easy to match. This was an old custom UL of mine that Guillermo Longo glassed for me. He said he'd just use some off the shelve spray paint colors so I could add to it or easily repair it. Still my favorite color board. 8 years ago my board graphic was unique. Now I see it all over.

You know TD, with a little moss encouragement and some concrete modification, you could have yourself a board pedestal similar to Charley's (Supuk) old English yard art model.

No matter what your base colours are, finish all your ding repairs with gold. Kintsukuroi / kintsugi is the way to go.

Blackeye,

Love it.

Slatch,

Everything Charlie does is refined, and well thought out. Me neither.
