Brand new Sunova website
« on: September 23, 2017, 08:58:55 AM »
The new improved website is finally up and running. It still needs to be proofread for spelling errors but I like it so far. Easy to navigate. The new boards look cool. Lots of important details are provided along with a photo/video gallery for each board. Awesome! I'm really liking the new Flash.

http://www.sunovasurfboards.com/

The "featured boards" on the opening page seems unnecessary.

They are still claiming that the Search is a capable downwind/ocean board. :o

I would like to see Bert design a downwind board that gets great glide downwind but will also turn on the wave and surf well like the Jimmy Lewis M series boards and others. I don't care much for the race oriented/dug out shapes.

It's a nice website. Nice to see some colors in the boards themselves. Adds a little pizazz to the boards.

Overall, it's great. They've added a lot of features and information that was missing. My minor complaint is 1- whats with the awful music that comes on automatically?  2. I really liked the feature on the old website that displayed the SUP boards in order, from left to right, in their performance surfing order.

When I clicked on the link this morning and just now, there is no music from the website.

And my speakers are on and working properly because I went to YouTube and played a few songs.

If you click on "SUP" and go to a board, click "DETAILVIEW" and you should get the info.

Also try not clicking on SUP but just hold your cursor over it, then go to the board you want. You will see the info when you click on each board.

Yeah, they might need to make that a little easier somehow.

Looking good..
Nice to read the details and thoughts behind the design, highlighted by some truths about the ride and expectations ie: the Flash expectations are “don’t go too wide on the turns because it’ll stay in the pocket”
Now for folks like me that’s a really neat bit of surfing honesty, and I’m well pleased it’s there because now I’m going to understand what the boards for and how to ride it at it’s best.

Looking forward to exploring more of the site...

I'm not understanding your thoughts on the Search Badger....seemed very capable to me. Stability let me put the power to the paddle and once on a swell it runs. What are your specs? I think it's a good board for big guys.

I only know about the Search 14' so I can't comment on the Search 12'. My specs are in my signature at the bottom of the post.

I had the 14' for about a week. Surfing is it's best trait. I surfed it on waves from knee high to head high. It's a fun board to surf, but what it lacks is glide.

They claim it can be used for downwinders. Yes, you can take any board downwind but normally when we think of downwinders we think of the board gliding and surfing bumps. The Search 14' does not have enough glide to do that.

They also claim it's an ocean board. Due to it's lack of glide and overall slowness, it does not handle chop well enough to call it ocean capable. Even an expert paddler would have difficulty paddling it upwind in 15mph open ocean winds. Because of this, it could actually be dangerous for average paddlers to use it for any distance in the ocean.

It's a fine flatwater board although a bit slow for a 14'er. Very stable and safe in protected waters.

The Search 12' probably surfs a lot better and may even be faster all around.

It's so much better, all the detailed notes on shape/design and breakout of dimensions really helps.  I'm trying to decide between the Creek and the Flash and I was surprised to see how close they are in terms of dimensions, at least at the length/vol I'm targeting.  Creek has a 5/8" wider nose but other dims are almost the same.  Of course the tails are totally different.

If there is anything missing at all, it's a more detailed measurement of rocker so we can make relative comparison between boards like we can do with other dimensions.

Overall, it's great!

Totally digging the new website!  Easy to navigate and all the information in the detailed view link that I think most would desire.
